Key figures for the financial year 2006
DB Logistics, including BAX Global Inc., achieved a turnover of around 17.0 billion euros in the financial year 2006 - more than 56 percent of the total turnover of the DB Group. Schenker on its own marked up a turnover of around 13.2 billion euros.
Negotiations for the acquisition of the American logistics company BAX Global were started in 2005, and spring 2006 saw the completion of the transaction. This has again significantly enhanced Deutsche Bahn's competitive position in the transport and logistics industry worldwide. Deutsche Bahn AG now ranks worldwide in this sector as:
No. 1 in European land transport
No. 2 in worldwide air freight
No. 3 in worldwide ocean freight
No. 6 in global contract logistics
No. 1 in European rail freight transport
No. 3 in integrated heavyweight freight in North America
The table below shows the current key figures for DB AG, DB Logistics, Schenker and the individual business units. The figures relate to the financial year 2006, but the acquisition of BAX Global has been taken into account.
