More growth together

Schenker supports growth strategy with acquisition of BAX Global

The position of DB Logistics as an international provider of transport and logistics services has been considerably strengthened by its acquiring BAX Global. The combination of BAX with Schenker gives rise to a highly competitive worldwide network.

The acquisition of BAX Global has resulted in a considerable enhancement of Deutsche Bahn's competitive position in the worldwide transport and logistics industry. As an international provider of mobility and logistics services, Deutsche Bahn AG now rates as:

  • No. 1 in European land transport
  • No. 2 in worldwide air freight
  • No. 3 in worldwide ocean freight
  • No. 6 in global contract logistics
  • No. 1 in European rail freight transport
  • No. 3 in integrated heavyweight freight in North America

BAX Global has made a notable contribution to DB's position in sea and air freight - a matter of particular importance for the worldwide supply chains in a field where demand is constantly increasing. At the same time its presence in the North American market, and in Asia in particular, has been boosted. It will also enjoy an even better position in the contract logistics markets of the future. BAX Global and Schenker are an ideal match, both geographically and in terms of the customers and industries they cover.

BAX Global has 500 business locations, with a presence in 150 different countries. Its most important customers are big industrial firms. Almost a third of BAX's turnover comes from the electronics and consumer goods industries. The company has also been successful in the automotive, air freight and retail trade sectors.

Together Schenker und BAX Global have a team of more than 59,000 experts at 1,500 locations in 150 countries.

Continued powerful growth can be forecast for transport between the USA and Asia in coming years. In future more than half of the world's trade will be focused on the countries of Asia. With the support of a worldwide network, DB Logistics can benefit from favorable freight rates based on the increasing volume of shipments. Falling costs will also make further investment possible, as well as guaranteeing future business and jobs.
