A perspective from Cindi Perdue Hane on our two organization's global supply chain capabilities.
Whether your supply chain requirements are regional or global, Schenker's and BAX's combined capabilities offer you a solution where everything is available under one roof. The infrastructure of our worldwide Integrated Logistics Centers unifies cross-docking and warehouse activities relative to layout, technology, IT systems and processes.
The employment of the newest RFID technology in combination with an innovative Warehouse Management System allows paperless processing of all the various management functions, instant identification of each "stock-keeping unit" (SKU), prioritized and way-optimized order transmission, as well as the best possible control and execution of an order's permanent inventory.
The link between Transportation and Warehouse Management Systems enables our customers to track and trace shipments whether they're being transported by land, air or ocean. And data transfer with customers via standardized or individual EDI interfaces reduces administrative costs substantially.
Material Provisioning, an important part of the inbound process, is the term we use in reference to the management of goods flowing inbound to manufacturing facilities. Whether you deploy a make-to-order or make-to-plan fulfillment strategy, we have the experience and the solutions to coordinate with your suppliers and manage the distribution of goods to your point(s) of production.
The idea is to keep materials inventory low and moving efficiently from suppliers to manufacturing. To accomplish this, we have a breadth of material provisioning services including dedicated, shared, or insourced facilities; materials inventory optimization and management; purchase order management; pick & pack operations to support to manufacturing lines; VMI hubs and more.
Regarding order fulfillment, it is the most crucial of all the opportunities to display outstanding customer service. From every one of our logistics centers we can help you achieve your goals for perfect order fulfillment - getting the right products to your customers on time and in good condition - and at a cost that protects your profit margin. Our fulfillment services include a wide variety of value-added services to support your postponement efforts, cost reduction initiatives, and customer requests.
Did you know that there is an estimated US$100 Billion in goods returned each year across all industries? That fact alone requires companies to invest in a reverse logistics program, because the cost of not having a program can mean delayed response to quality issues, missed opportunities for additional revenue and, most disconcerting, loss of customer satisfaction. We offer unique, measurable solutions in reverse logistics, integrating our transportation services with your customers' for returns authorization, as well as performing all types of disposition services within our returns facilities in order to minimize the impact of returns on your operations.
At Schenker and BAX, we like to think of ourselves as "resultants," not consultants, helping you design customized solutions to achieve your desired objectives. Our approach to creating value throughout your supply chain involves listening, understanding individual strategies, and configuring optimal solutions to meet your needs.
