A perspective from Markus Bauer about the competitive advantages for customers when shipping to and from Europe and North America.
Now, whether you're exporting or importing between Europe and the U.S., we can offer you true door-to-door, single-source control of your shipments assuring speed, accuracy and dependability on all of your shipping transactions. For goods being imported into the U.S., Customs clearance begins while your shipment is still in transit, and through our electronic links with Customs in major countries throughout Europe and North America, you get quick and automated notification of shipment status and clearance approval for your shipments. Our brokerage experts are dedicated to monitoring the latest import and export compliance laws and regulations and capable of taking care of all your brokerage needs.
However, our real strength begins when your shipments touch down on either continent. At that point, Schenker's land transport network in Europe, where we are #1, or BAX Global's distribution system in the U.S. for heavy freight, where we are #3, takes over.
Utilizing BAX's DirectShip North America, we can pick up your entire shipment, arrange a direct consolidation, clear U.S. Customs, breakdown your consolidated shipment into individual shipments, and deliver to multiple destinations using our own transportation network. The entire process is coordinated under a single invoice with total visibility and flexibility to selectively track individual pieces online through MyBAX.
When your shipments are either originating from or being delivered throughout Europe, Schenker is the specialist for land transport by road and rail. We are the leading European logistics services provider for scheduled groupage services, part load and full truck load transportation. With more than 700 locations in about 30 countries, our dense land transport network spans the continent offering over 10,000 scheduled international freight forwarding lanes every week, linking Europe with fast, efficient and reliable door- to-door delivery of goods.
The joint organizations' combined sophisticated information and communication technology also help meet customer requirements for extensive market coverage and high frequency shipments, resulting in shorter lead-times and more reliable flow of goods.
Let Schenker/BAX handle your logistics requirements between Europe and the U.S., and we will ensure you a choice of expedited, express and standard airfreight services with the most frequent flight schedules in the industry, as well as scheduled ocean service for shipments that are less time-sensitive. Then rest assured, once your goods are on the ground, they will be handled by one of the best in the business.

About Markus Bauer
After working for one of the largest car rental companies in Europe, Markus developed a greater interest in logistics and transportation and, so, went to work for Schenker in Germany. The company offered him a combined degree with a focus on freight forwarding, transportation and logistics, which he found was the ideal environment to refine his knowledge of global supply chain management. During an internship with Schenker in 2005, he had his first contact with the U.S., deciding to specialize in international freight forwarding systems. After finishing his studies in economics, Schenker now utilizes his expertise as Route Development Manager for Germany/Austria, based in Schenker's Western Region of the U.S. With his knowledge of the European freight forwarding market, particularly Germany and Austria, Markus supports the local sales within the U.S. Western region to provide tailor-made logistics solutions for customers. With his extensive background working in Germany and Austria, his expertise is welcomed by companies who are planning to enter the European market and establish their overseas activities. |
